Hello, friends! Daria is here. Not long ago I was talking about a very beautiful crocheted blanket designed by Veronica Liachovic “Blooming joy”. Last week I finished Row 43 (my Ravelry project is here) and today I'll show you my process from Row 1 to Row 43. I also added some comments to each part of rows to remember the key points. Here we go!
Russian version of this article: «Вяжу вместе с девочками плед Blooming Joy. Ход процесса с 1 по 43 ряд»
Note: I'm using «Sofit» yarn by Color City (Fingering, 55% Silk, 45% Wool, 380 meters/100 grams).
Rows 1-5
A pleasant start in which the only truly intricate row is the 5th. Veronica's video tutorial was very useful to double check all the elements made.
Rows 6-8
It is very convenient that the written pattern, photo and video tutorials made by Veronica are divided into very small parts of several rows. I realized it was easier for me as usual to be focused on the process.
Rows 9-11
It's always exciting to see how the shape of the blanket changes during the work process. The flower turns into an octagon and then back into a flower.
Rows 12-13
Usually I'm creating my own color scheme. Sometimes it happens that I start a row with a color I never planned to work with, like the Dark Emerald in Row 13. But I should say it looks realy nice. Happy!
Rows 14-15
“Berry time”! I just love those popcorn sections in Row 14. They look so appropriate.
Rows 16-18
And the shape of the blanket changes again: 8 petals gradually turn into a circle:
Rows 19-20
Then two rows of beautiful floral motif. We used to have 8 petals, now there are 16 of them:
Rows 21-22
A bit more of decor: just add a popcorn to the middle of the element and you get a bud:
Rows 23-25
In Veronica’s version, these three rows are worked in one color (white), but I wanted to add some contrast, so I used two colors of yarn instead of one: white and dark emerald.
Rows 26-28
Working this small part I was remembering CALs of my favorite blanket designer — Helen Shrimpton. She loves to use those elements in her patterns:
Rows 29-31
Finishing petals. I was a little hesitant about choosing a color (it seemed to be to bright), but in the end I really liked I made the decision. I never follow color schemes that designers suggest in written instructions. I love creating my own color combinations.
Rows 32-34
Blanket shape changes again: petals turn into an octagon with a bit rounded ends. I made some changes in elements (instead of tr worked clusters of fptr and tr) to make the blanket texture denser:
Rows 35-43
The following rows are also divided into several groups in Veronika's design. But I was so carried away by the selection of colors and the process itself that I forgot to make pictures of those intermediate parts. As a result, I only have one photo, after the end of the 43rd row.
The shape of the blanket at this stage has become almost square and in subsequent rows we will really turn it to a full square.
At the moment the width of the side of the work is 46 cm.
To be continued...
